Disney Cruise Line Pirates of The Caribbean Menu 2005

Disney Cruise Line always puts a bit of creativity into everything they do, including the menus. This is from the Pirates of the Caribbean night on the Disney Magic in Mexico, 2005.

Matson LInes Passenger List 1946

Back when there was a "First Class" on passenger ships and ocean liners, the line would issue a passenger list to the guests. After all, you met the most fascinating people on board, this way you could keep in touch with them.

The cover of this passenger list is an illustration of the Routes of the Matson Line - Hawaii New Zealand Australia via Samoa and Fiji. This is by noted illustrator E. Melbourne Brindle.  Gorgeous!

Sailing from Honolulu for Los Angeles Harbor and San Francisco on August 23, 1946 at 12:00 noon.

Princess Cruises Lunch Menu 1970 Mexico

Buy this menuThis is a lunch menu dated Monday June 8, 1970 from the Princess Carla.  Lots of great selections - pickled pearl onions and fruit Jell-O are among the selections.  The cover art is a sepia toned photo of Taxco, Mexico.

Floating through Europe

This is a handwritten copy of the "farewell dinner" on our very first "cruise," a 13-passenger barge floating through Holland to see the tulips. Dated April 12 and 1
3, 1984. We booked this trip not really expecting much, and we had  the best time.  We're still talking about it 30 years later - the passengers, the crew, the food.  The most amazing thing was that a menu like this was created in a galley the size of a phone both.

Gluhwein - Hot Mulled Wine Recipe

Glühwein (Hot Mulled Wine) Around the Christmas season, public houses in nearly every European town offer mulled wine as a delicious antidote to the season’s chill. To warm up on a stormy evening or put yourself in a celebratory mood, you can make your own glühwein at home. Or, visit Europe on one of our late-fall Rhine or Danube cruises for an unforgettable holiday season experience. Ingredients: Four quarts dry red wine (e.g., zinfandel, pinot, burgundy) One quart dry white wine One pint brandy One cup white sugar (more to taste) Six cinnamon sticks Twelve whole cloves One-eighth teaspoon allspice One-eighth teaspoon mace Two oranges One lemon Directions: Pour red wine into a three-gallon pot (or larger) and begin gentle heating. Add sugar and spices. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add brandy and white wine, slices of one orange and the lemon. Steep for one hour over low heat. Serve hot and garnish with orange slices or a cinnamon stick. Makes 12–15 servings. From Viking River Cruises - contact us to book your Viking River Vacation
